Indian domestic pellet prices stable at Rs 7500/t, ex works

Indian iron pellet prices have been stable since last 3 weeks. Manufacturers further kept their offers unchanged at Rs 7,500/t ($141, ex-works) for October looking at stable demand.

“Currently pellet manufacturers have an edge of easy and cheap availability of iron fines (on slowing exports of iron ore from India).Only risk to pellet industry is rising power prices, which will subdue demand of sponge iron across the country.

It is interesting to see Indian blast furnaces using pellets in recent time. We can see a healthy demand of pellet in coming years.” said an industry expert.

Sources say that imported pellets from Brazil are being offered at around $130-135/t CFR India, though no deals have been heard concluded.
