Indian Coal Import slightly raised by 2.8% W-o-W

SteelMint assessed that India’s weekly Coal import raised by 2.8% to around 2.9 MnT of Coal in the starting week of January, 2014 (Week 1).

Out of the total imported Coal, around 83% was Non-Coking, about 14.2% was Coking and around 2.7% were others which include Coke and Anthracite.

SteelMint has considered 33 major and minor ports. Krishnapatnam has imported maximum quantity i.e. around 0.44 MnT on Week 1. All received Coal grades in Krishnapatnam port were Non-Coking received from different destinations and Mostly imported from South Africa belongs to JSW Energy. Mundra was yet another port which received large amount of Coal imports of around 0.42 MnT from Indonesia. Major contribution of quantity was given by Adani Power and Adani Enterprises.

All ports considered by SteelMint received around 0.4 MnT of Coking Coal. The major importer was JSW Steel which imported around 0.14 MnT from Australia. Also, RINL imported around 72,999 MT Coking Coal from Australia.

The ports considered are Dahej, Mormugao, Navlakhi, Mundra, Mumbai, New Mangalore, Hazira, Kandla, Bedi, Porbander, Dahanu, Dharmatar PnP, Dharamtar Ispat, Tuticorin, Jaigarh, Dighi, Revdanda, Magdalla, Pipavav GPPL, UTCL- Pipavav, Sanghi, Sikka, Okha, Muldwarka, Dhamra, Ennore, Gangavaram, Haldia, Krishnapatnam, Kakinada, Paradip, Vizag and Karaikal
