SteelMint assessed that Coal import in India dropped by 10.8% to around 2.5 MnT in the second week of January.
Out of the total imported Coal, around 76% was Non-coking and about 24% was Coking Coal.
Considering 33 major and minor Indian ports, Paradip has imported maximum quantity i.e. around 0.24 MnT of Coal in Week 2 including Coking and Non-coking Coal. Non-coking Coal imported from Indonesia belongs to Adani Enterprises & Coastal Energy, whereas SAIL has imported Coking Coal from Australia.
Mundra was yet another port which received large amount of Coal imports of around 0.22 MnT from Indonesia. Contribution of quantity was given by Adani Group.
SteelMint assessed that India has imported around 1.9 MnT of Non-coking and 0.6 MnT of Coking Coal. The major importer of Non-coking coal was Adani Enterprises, which has imported around 0.4 MnT of Coal majorly from Indonesia. Essar Group also imported around 0.3 MnT of Non-coking Coal from Indonesian & Australia in second week of 2014.
Indian Steel giants, SAIL and Tata Steels have imported around 0.18 MnT and 0.16 MnT of Coking Coal respectively from Australia in second week of 2014.
The ports considered are: Dahej, Mormugao, Navlakhi, Mundra, Mumbai, New Mangalore, Hazira, Kandla, Bedi, Porbander, Dahanu, Dharmatar PnP, Dharamtar Ispat, Tuticorin, Jaigarh, Dighi, Revdanda, Magdalla, Pipavav GPPL, UTCL- Pipavav, Sanghi, Sikka, Okha, Muldwarka, Dhamra, Ennore, Gangavaram, Haldia, Krishnapatnam, Kakinada, Paradip, Vizag and Karaikal.
