Odisha contributes almost entirely towards chrome ore production in India. Chrome ore production in Odisha has been recorded at 239,283 MT in Sep’17. It is about 20% above the production witnessed in Aug’17. Moreover, Chrome ore production in Sep’17 is 20% Y-o-Y above than that of Sep’16, which stood at 0.2 MnT.
Production level by captive miners remained fairly unchanged, increased only slightly by 0.54% M-o-M. Balasore Alloys and FACOR witnessed a substantial increase of 32% and 38% respectively on monthly basis. However, Jindal Stainless recorded a massive fall of 98% M-o-M in Sep’17 productions.
TATA Steel, one of the largest merchant miners in the country, registered a marginal increase of 8% M-o-M in its production, while OMC registered a mammoth increase of 279% M-o-M in its production.
