Odisha contributes almost entirely towards chrome ore production in India. Chrome ore production in Odisha has been recorded at 200,142 MT in Aug’17. It is about 19% below the production witnessed in Jul’17.
Production by captive miners decreased substantially by 21% M-o-M. FACOR witnessed a substantial decrease of around 61% in its production, while Balasore Alloys recorded a decrease of 25% in its production on M-o-M basis. IMFA, on the other hand, witnessed a mere increase of 2% M-o-M in its production in Aug’17. However, IDCOL registered a massive 81% M-o-M decrease in its production in Aug’17.
TATA Steel, one of the largest merchant miners in the country, registered a marginal decrease of 11% in its production, whereas, OMC recorded a substantial decrease of 63% in its production. However, B.C. Mohanty & Sons registered an increase of 28% in its production.
