Indian Chrome Ore Production Decreased by a Mere 3% in Dec’15

Production of chrome and chrome concentrates decreased marginally by 3% in Dec’15 in comparison to Nov’15.

Odisha contributes to around 98% of the total chrome ore produced in India. Chrome ore production in Odisha decreased by 3% and stood at 377,196 MT in Dec’15. In Nov’15, chrome ore production was 389,995 MT.

Captive miners in Dec’15 had increased production by almost 27% M-o-M, mainly contributed by IMFA, FACOR and Jindal Stainless. However, merchant miners in Dec’15 had decreased production by 14.5% M-o-M, with OMC reducing production by over 57%.
