India’s bulk HRC export shipments plunged by 44% in Apr’20, and assessed at around 2,30,000 MT, based on the data of 20 ports maintained by SteelMint. Meanwhile, last month the same was recorded at 4,11,599 MT in Mar’20.
UAE remained the major importer- In Apr’20, UAE imported 1,32,125 MT of HRC from India, which was 67,000 MT in the previous month. Other major destinations were- Vietnam with 20,800 MT in Apr’20 against 91,000 MT in the previous month. Oman booked around 16,900 MT HRC in Apr ’20.
Tata Steel remained the largest HRC exporter- In Apr’20, TATA Steel’s bulk HRC export shipments stood at 90,025 MT, followed by AM/NS 60,500 MT, and JSW at 46,900 MT.
Port-Wise Indian HRC exports– Mormugao port recorded 80,100 MT of bulk HRC export shipments in Apr’20. Other major ports were Dhamra at 69,225 MT, Hazira at 60500 MT, and Haldia at 20,800 MT in Apr’20.
Indian HRC export volumes are expected to witness a rebound in May, as mills booked good quantity for exports on dull domestic off-take.
