Indian Bulk Billet Exports Increase 5% in October 2017

Indian bulk billet exports moved up by 4.68% in the month of Oct’17. According to data maintained by SteelMint based on vessel line up at ports, Indian bulk exports of billets are recorded at 132,220 MT in Oct’17 against 126,300 MT in Sep’17.

In the month of October, 9 vessels of billet have been shipped, out of which, JSW Steel has shipped major quantity about 40,000 MT followed by RINL at 35,580 MT, SAIL at 15,500 MT & Mono steel at 10,500 MT loaded from various Indian ports.

Indian Billet Exports to Cross 2 Million Tonnes

Overall Indian billet exports are set to cross 2 million tonnes in the current calendar year due to strong demand from Nepal and South East Asian countries on absence of Chinese billets. During 2016, the total billet exports from India stood at 1.75 million tonnes.

In 2017 till Oct-end, the total billet exports stood at around 1.90 million tonnes. The growth in billet export volumes is expected to help India become 4th largest exporter of billet in the world, largest being the Russia, with an annual volumes of 15.16 million tonnes (2016), followed by Brazil 6.25 MnT & Japan 4.26 MnT.
