In India, Coking Coal imports in Nov’17 were down by 7.17% over the imports in Oct’17, an analysis of the import data compiled by CoalMint Research shows.
During the penultimate month of 2017, around 4.14 MnT of Coking Coal was imported in the country against around 4.46 MnT in Oct’17.

The decline in the imports during the month was due to the delays occurred at the Australian ports. Maintenance activities at the port terminals caused delays in outward shipments of coal cargoes, lowering landed import volumes.
A break-up of the countries of import during the month under review shows that the imports from Australia decreased due to the port delays, but the imports from Canada were higher.

Among the various ports in India, the Paradip port had handled the highest volume of import traffic during the month; followed by the Mormugao and Haldia ports.

The major imports during the month: RINL, Tata Steel, JSW Steel, SAIL, Electrosteel, Rawmet, Rashmi Group, Bhushan Steel, Jindal Stainless, Saurashtra Fuel, among other.
