India: Vedanta to Export 20,000 MT Pig Iron

Indian pig iron exports continue to gain momentum on increased demand from global buyers. Various Indian pig iron exporters have become active in export market.

A bulk vessel (Lord Mountbatten) of 20,000 MT has been recorded at Mormugao Port (India’s west coast), expected to get berth on 21 Jan’17.

According to sources, the cargo is likely to ship to Thailand and the cargo has been approximately concluded around USD 300-310/MT, FoB India.

This is the third export cargo by Vedanta (earlier known as Sesa Goa) in FY17. In August 2016, the company has exported 21,000 MT Pig iron to Thailand.

There is another vessel ( Franbo Wind) of 31,500 MT which departed from Paradip Port (Indian west coast) on 18 Jan’17 for Thailand. Cargo belongs to MMTC and the deal was concluded at USD 292/MT, FoB India through tender which closed on Dec’16.
