India: Vedanta-FACOR sets ferro chrome auction for 25 Aug’26

  • Four lots of HC ferro chrome to be offered
  • Bids fell INR 1,550/t ($16/t) m-o-m at previous auction

Vedanta-Ferro Alloys Corporation Ltd (FACOR) will conduct its ferro chrome auction on 25 Aug’26. The auction will feature four lots of high-carbon (HC) ferro chrome, comprising two lots of material with Cr:57% min (10-150 mm), one lot of Cr:54% min (10-20 mm) and one lot of Cr:52% min (0-10 mm).

At the previous auction held on 12 August 2026, entire offered quantity was booked. The larger lot of HC ferro chrome (Cr:57% min, 10-150 mm) fetched an H1 price of INR 119,850/t ($1,252/t), up INR 2,100/t ($22/t) from the base price of INR 117,750/t ($1,230/t). The Cr:54% min (10-20 mm) chips and Cr:52% min (0-10 mm) fines fetched INR 117,450/t ($1,227/t) and INR 110,450/t ($1,154/t), respectively.

Ferro chrome (HC60%, 10-150 mm) prices have remained largely steady until last week at around INR 119,000/t ($1,243/t) exw-Jajpur. However, amid weaker buyer bids, offers softened to as low as INR 118,500/t ($1,238/t) exw. Market participants are expected to closely watch the auction outcome for indications of near-term price direction and buyer sentiment in the domestic ferro chrome market.
