The Punjab State Power Corporation is struggling with technical problems and the shortage of coal. A unit at Ropar thermal plant has been shut down as the supply of coal from Pachwara mine, which was just operationalised, has reportedly stopped. Another unit at Ropar plant has also been shut down due to the leakage in boiler tube.
