According to sources, the Steel and Mines Department of the Government of Odisha has issued a letter of intent (LOI) for Triveni Earthmovers Pvt Ltd for granting mining lease for manganese ore and iron ore over an area of 256.304 ha in village Laserda in Odisha. The mine is a manganese ore reserve having a capacity of 7.36 mn t but after exploration, iron ore reserves of 8.28 mn t have also been found.
