India to add 20 new nuclear plants by 2031

Indian government plans to commission 20 new nuclear power plants by 2031, adding nearly 15,000 MW in power generating capacity. This holds significant so as to reduce dependency on coal-fired plants which account for major share in the energy mix. As on Nov’22, the installed capacity of nuclear plants stands at 6,780 MW out of the total 409,161 MW.
