Government controlled 12 Major Ports of India have handled around 47.8 MnT of Thermal Coal during April-November FY 14.
Indian Ports Association (IPA) has reported- India’s 12 ports have registered a growth of 35.7 per cent in thermal coal handling compare to FY 13. Whereas, Indian ports have handled around 22 MnT of Coking Coal which is up by 7.6 per cent than previous financial year.

Coal traffic in Paradip port have been increased by 25.4 per cent from FY 13 and handled around 16.4 MnT of Thermal Coal in FY 14. Thermal Coal traffic at Kolkata port has declined by 13 percent from FY 13 and handled around 1 MnT of Thermal coal in FY 14 (till Nov)
Mormugao port on west coast of India received the largest volume of Coking Coal during April-November FY 14. The Coking coal received at Mormugao port rose to 19.5 per cent to 4.9 MnT.
During November, 2013 only, 12 Indian ports have handled around 5.5 MnT of Thermal Coal, up 10 per cent on the year, while coking coal traffic rose by 21 per cent to 3.4 MnT.
