Indian Mining industry is witnessing a major turning point as the leases for merchant miners expires in April 2020. A total of 283 bids were received for 20 blocks put under auction on 03rd Jan, the last day of submitting bids for these mining blocks. Out of these 20 blocks, two blocks are for Manganese Ore and six are composite blocks of Iron and Manganese Ore and remaining 12 are Iron Ore blocks.
The State government earlier issued a notification for the auction of these mines in two phases, but later it was annulled on 2nd Dec due to some procedural errors. As some companies participated in the bidding process directly as well as through their subsidiaries, to reduce competition. On Dec 6th, the government added new conditions for bidding. This time bidder is expected to have one bid for a block either through the parent’s company name or through its subsidiaries. After the technical evaluation process, selected participants will be competing in another round of bidding.
Nadidih (Feegrade) received the highest number of bids with 20 bids followed by Siljora Kalimat Iron & Maganese Mines, Tehrai Iron Ore Block and Naraynposi Iron & Manganese (AMTC) Mines with 10 bids each.
