India: Tata Steel Increases Wire Rod Capacity at Pithampur Unit

Tata’s Wire division has increased its Pithampur (MP) unit capacity by 66% to 88,000 MT annually as per the company reported in its recent annual report. Earlier the unit was working at 53,000 MT.

The company wire division which has recorded a sales growth of 14% in FY’18 over the previous year. The company’s sales figure is mainly contributed to infrastructure growth by 20%, automotive segment by 13% and in retail segment by 11%.

In total, the company’s wire division annual capacity is about 3,75,000 MT, where the plant is located at Tarapur (Mumbai), Pithampur (MP) and at Jamshedpur.

The company offers wire products like Tyre Bead wire, spring and spoke wires for the auto industry, Prestressed concrete (‘PC’) Strands and PC Wires for the construction industry, Galvanised wires for fencing and Binding wire for rural markets.
