- Strong export realisations keep producer offers firm
- Several producers offering limited volumes for sale
Tata Metaliks has increased its pig iron prices by INR 1,000/t on 14 Aug’2026, effective immediately, with foundry-grade pig iron now at INR 45,000/t ex-works and basic-grade (Blue) at INR 43,000/t ex-works.
The price hike reflects a relatively firm demand environment despite subdued spot market buying, as several producers are offering limited quantities due to limited material availability. This has allowed suppliers to maintain stronger prices despite cautious spot procurement.
Additionally, favourable export realisations are supporting producer sentiment, as export markets continue to offer attractive netbacks. With domestic availability remaining constrained and demand holding up, producers have greater pricing confidence and limited pressure to aggressively compete for spot sales.
Overall, the latest revision signals a firming bias in the pig iron market, supported by healthy underlying demand, restricted availability and strong export economics.
