A Raigarh-based major billet supplier has informed of shortfall in production by 40% due to seasonal factors, as sponge iron supply has fallen due to heavy rainfall as well as planned maintenance shutdown. Melting capacity has dropped.
The plant’s daily billet production now is around 1,500 t against an average of 2,500 t earlier. The producer’s supply of billets in the spot market (Raipur) is likely to fall.
