A Raigarh-based steel producer has informed of a shortfall in billet production by around 40% due to temporary shutdown of a few sponge iron kilns. The plant’s melting capacity has dropped, as a result. The daily billet production at the plant is around 1,500 t against 2,500 t earlier. The producer’s supply of billets to the Raipur market is likely to fall.
