SteelMint’s price assessment for sponge C-DRI (FeM 80%, mix material) stands at INR 33,500/t ($451/t) on 30 Sep’21 as against offers at INR 33,800-34,000/t exw-Rourkela in Odisha, up by a whooping INR 1,100/t. Around 4,650 t of deals were reported at INR 33,000-33,500/t exw. Sources informed that active demand, supply shortage and high coal and steel billet prices continue to support sponge iron prices.
