India: Sponge iron export offers rise on renewed demand

Sponge prices remained strong due to low productivity and active demand. SteelMint’s weekly export price assessment for lumps (FeM 80%) rose by $5-10/t to $460/t CPT Benapole, equivalent to $490/t CFR Chittagong, Bangladesh. About 15,000 t of deals have been reported, with demand from Bangladeshi mills resuming.

Offers for Nepal are at $440/t (FeM 80%, mix of lumps/fines 70:30) loaded on rake, eastern India, equivalent to $465/t CPT Nepal.
