India: South African RB2 coal trade muted on weak demand

Amid limited enquiries, portside South African RB2 (5500 NAR) grade coal offers remained elevated at INR 8,000/t, ex-Gangavaram, on 18 Jun’21. Sharp rise in imported coal prices has compelled sponge iron manufacturers to switch to high-CV domestic coal, and even RB3 coal, that is heard to have been sold at INR 6,500/t, ex-Gangavaram.
