India: Shyam Metalics’ stainless steel sales gain 15% m-o-m in July

  • Shyam Metalics stainless steel sales improve in July
  • Stainless steel realisations strengthen

Shyam Metalics and Energy reported a 15.2% m-o-m increase in stainless steel sales to 9,149 t in July FY27 from 7,942 t in June, while volumes were also 12.9% higher than 8,102 t recorded a year earlier. Average stainless steel realisations increased 1.4% m-o-m to INR 179,069/t from INR 176,588/t in June and rose 36.1% y-o-y from INR 131,539/t, reflecting stronger pricing in the company’s stainless steel business.

Stainless steel sales maintain growth

Cumulative stainless steel sales during January-July CY26 increased 15.0% y-o-y to 59,833 t, compared with 52,048 t during the corresponding period last year, indicating sustained volume growth across the business. The simultaneous increase in sales volumes and realisations suggests improved value capture alongside higher dispatches.

Expansion to strengthen downstream capacity

Shyam Metalics is investing INR 1,800 crore to expand its stainless steel business through higher melting, rolling and downstream processing capacity. The expansion includes an enlarged stainless steel melt shop, higher hot strip mill capacity, expansion of cold rolling facilities, a new reversible cold rolling mill, hot rolled annealing and pickling facilities, cold annealing and pickling lines, and a new bright annealing line.

Outlook

The planned capacity additions are expected to strengthen Shyam Metalics’ downstream integration and expand its value-added stainless steel product portfolio. With stainless steel sales volumes and realisations continuing to improve, the expansion positions the company to support higher production and greater value addition as new facilities are commissioned.
