Shyam Metalics and Energy Limited (SMEL), a leading Indian metal producer, has expanded its stainless steel portfolio with the launch of advanced grades, including 904L super austenitic stainless steel, duplex, and super duplex steels.
Known for their high strength and corrosion resistance, these materials cater to critical sectors such as aerospace, defence, marine, and chemicals, reinforcing SMEL’s position as a global stainless steel supplier. The company has extended its export footprint to markets like Japan, Spain, and Italy.
SMEL also reported robust growth in its stainless steel business. In August, stainless longs sales exceeded 9,300 t, marking a 33% y-o-y increase, while July production surged 42.2% y-o-y to 8,102 t. This momentum was fuelled by strong domestic demand, an expanded product range, and steady international orders. With this progress, SMEL remains optimistic about sustaining its expansion and strengthening its role in both domestic and global markets.
