India: Ship recycling import volumes hit five-month high in Jan ’21

Scrapped ship imports in Alang, Gujarat has increased to 222,772 LDT in Jan ’21, touching a five-month high, as per data maintained with SteelMint. The import volumes were up by 28% m-o-m against 173,485 LDT in Dec ’20. As per sources, the demolition of ships is increasing day by day, as most of the HKC certified plots are operational now, increasing to 90 from 70.
