South Eastern Coalfields Ltd (SECL), a Mini Ratna Enterprise of Government of India, has recorded a new milestone in daily coal dispatch.
The coal company has dispatched 5 LT (Lakh Tonnes) of coal as on 20 Feb’19, which according to the officials, was never been attained till date.
Moreover, SECL’s coal production during the same day stood 5.2 LT, achieving its highest total on daily basis in the current fiscal FY19.
The company has envisaged bettering its coal production figures for the FY19. As per the latest media release, the company had attained the 100 MnT production mark in 5th Dec’18, out of which 90 MnT coal was procured from opencast projects while the remaining quantity was contributed from underground coal projects.
SECL also emphasise on the quality and quantity of coal delivered to the power plants to meet the surging electricity requirement. The company’s coal dispatch to the power plants has registered a 10% growth in the current fiscal, as per the report.
Earlier, the company had recovered from the hiccups of the strike activity raised as a result of dispute between labours and contractor at two of its mines, which had been duly withdrawn with aid of SECL officials.
SECL’s total coal dispatch during the first 10 months of FY19 (Apr’18-Jan’19) has reached 128.2 MnT, up 2.5% Y-o-Y from 125.02 MnT in the corresponding period of FY18. Production during the 10-month period stood 124.33 MnT.
