India: SCCL Coal Production Down 3% M-o-M in Feb’19

Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL), has reported 6.07 MnT coal production during Feb’18, down 3% m-o-m compared with 6.29 MnT in Jan’19.

The company had managed a 7% growth in terms of daily production rate, as average production stood 0.217 MnT/day in Feb’19 compared with 0.203 MnT/day in Jan’19.

However, a 3% Y-o-Y decline in coal output from 6.26 MnT in Feb’18 means that the company has now ended the progressive increase posted during the month of February in each of the last three fiscals.

SCCL’s total coal production during the first 11 months of FY19 (Apr’18 to Feb’19) has reached 57.94 MnT, rising 6% Y-o-Y from 54.64 MnT in the corresponding period of previous fiscal.

SCCL’s Coal Dispatch:

SCCL’s coal dispatch dropped 7% on the month to 5.86 MnT in Feb’19, but was 8% higher on the year from 5.42 MnT in Feb’18.

The company had managed average coal supplies of 0.209 MnT/day during Feb’19.

However, the management has insisted upon raising the daily coal transportation to 2.20 Lakh Tonnes (or 0.22 MnT) in Mar’19, in order to attain 680 Lakh Tonnes (or 68 MnT) of coal dispatch in the current fiscal year.

SCCL has dispatched 61.29 MnT coal during the first 11 months of FY19.

Area-wise Coal Production in Feb’19:

Out of the total coal output, 0.74 MnT was procured from Underground mines while the remaining 5.33 MnT coal was procured from the Open Cast projects.

Highest coal production was recorded from Kothagudem area, which had posted a decline in production on the monthly basis during Feb’19. In fact, only 3 out of the 11 mining areas had noted a rise in monthly output namely-Manuguru, Ramagundam-II, and Madamarri.

Highest coal dispatch was also recorded from Kothagudem, where 0.94 MnT coal has been supplied in Feb’19.
