India: Sarda reports sharp fall in production & sales in Q4 CY20

Sarda Energy & Minerals Ltd (SEML), Raipur (central India) based major secondary steel producers has released its quarterly & yearly results ending on 31 Mar’20.

As per report, SEML has registered sharp fall in its steel production & sales q-o-q in q4 on account of Covid-19 outbreak and also shutdown of one power plant for repairing work.

The company’s manufacturing was affected from 22 Mar’20 and shutdown was taken from 25’Mar to 16th Apr’20. Meanwhile from 16 Apr’20 steps were taken to restart the manufacturing facility in a phased and synchronized manner and the plant reached near normal capacity utilization by the 3rd week of May’20.

— Production of iron ore pellets reported steep fall of 49%, while remaining products (sponge iron, steel billet & wire rod) registered a fall of upto 29% q-o-q.

— On sales prospect major drop was marked in steel billet by 49%, whereas sales of remaining products (iron ore pellet, sponge iron & wire rod) fell by 15 to 30%.

— While positivity was seen in the company’s ferro alloys output by 12% and sales grew by 9%.
