Central India based Sarda Energy and Minerals Limited (SEML), plans to expand its billet production capacity by 50% in the fiscal year 2018-2019 (starting April 1, 2018 and ending 31st March 2019).
Current production capacity stands at 200,000 lakh tonnes, which will be increased to 300,000 lakh tonnes, company reported in a recent presentation given to investors.
Company also reported, its billet production was about 1.3 lakh tons in the fiscal year 2017-18. Out of 1.3 lakh tons, 15% of the production was sold externally while the remaining was processed for further downstream production.
Sarda energy is one of the largest steel producer in central India with an iron ore mine, pellet plant (0.6 MnT), DRI (0.36), billet (0.2 MnT), wire rod (0.18 MnT).
