Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), the largest Indian producer of Steel has a unit namely Salem Steel Plant (SSP) invites global tender from overseas manufacturers/suppliers for supply of High Carbon Ferro Chrome for its production process at Tamil Nadu.
To develop overseas vendors SAIL/SSP intends to import about 2,000 MT of High Carbon (HC) Ferro Chrome for the first time, on trial basis. SAIL/SSP’s average monthly requirement of High Carbon Ferro Chrome is about 3,000 MT.
General Conditions:
- Tenderer should either be an overseas producer of HC Ferro Chrome or should be a supplier, offering HC Ferro Chrome from an overseas producer of HC Ferro Chrome.
- The producer/supplier should have supplied at least 700 MT of HC Ferro Chrome in any of the preceding last three calendar years i.e. from 2011-2013, in single or multiple lots.
- An Indian agent can submit offer on behalf of only one foreign principal. In case, the said foreign principal also submits offer directly against this tender, offer of the foreign principal shall only be considered. No high-sea sales will be allowed.
- Delivery shall be within three months from the date of purchase order.

- Carbon (C): 6-8%
- Silicon (Si): 4% max.
- Phosphorus (P): 0.05% max.
- Sulphur (S): 0.05% max.
- Size : 10-70 mm
Quantity: 2,000 MT +/-30%
Terms of Delivery: CFR (Chennai Sea Port) or FOB Load port on SAIL’s option.
Delivery: The period of supply is from Feb’14-Mar’14.
