State-owned steel-maker SAIL plans to start commercial production of head hardened (HH) rails utilized in high-speed freight corridors and metro rails. To cater to the Indian Railways’ need for rails that can bear high axle-load, SAIL will manufacture HH rails at the Universal Rail Mill at its Bhilai Steel Plant. Earlier, the company had supplied R260 grade vanadium alloyed prime rails to the Railways.
