India: SAIL Salem Plant Concludes 20,000 MT Scrap Purchase Tender – Source’s

Salem Steel Plant (SSP), a unit of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), a government of India undertaking had floated a global tender for purchase of around 20,000 MT Scrap.

It is the third and final price discovery of the previous global tender for purchase of 77,000 MT HMS and Shredded scrap in which they are purchasing about 20,000 MT Shredded scrap this time. According to market sources report to SteelMint, SAIL has concluded the entire tender quantity which was put up for 3rd price discovery. As per sources, the tender has been awarded two companies in the ratio of 70% and 30%. If sources are to be believed, tender was concluded at USD 449/MT for Shredded.

The company had mentioned in its tender document that price evaluation will be done on the basis of Landed Cost Net of Set Off (LCNS) per MT of scrap. For imports, to arrive at LCNS, in addition to all Customs Duties, C &F and Inland freight charges of Rs.2010 per MT will also be considered.

The fresh tender of HMS Scrap of 5,130 MT which was due on 19 Mar’18 is extended to 15 days, as there is zero participation in this tender.
