SAIL has released a Request For Quotations (RFQ) in order to procure 5,000 MT containerized MS Shredded scrap for Salem Steel plant.
Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), one of the leading Steel manufacturers in the country, has invited overseas as well as indigenous suppliers for supply of a total quantity of 5,000 MT MS Shredded scrap for its Steel manufacturing unit located in Salem, Tamil Nadu.
Technical Specification of the desired material should be as per ISRI 211. The procurement of MS Shredded scrap should be done on the basis of reverse auction process.
Bidder Eligibility Criteria & Technical Specification
- Bidder should have executed a minimum supply order of 1,500 MT of MS Scrap (Shredded) as per US ISRI code 211 to any of the Steel manufacturing units in India or abroad in last three fiscal years.
- The material (Scrap) should be totally free from toxic chemicals, radio active materials, inflammables, radioactive contamination and mercury contamination etc at loading port.
Delivery Schedule: Shipment to be completed over a period of three months at the rate of around 3,300 MT/month.
Material Packaging: Should be packed loose in 20 feet end opening containers each carrying approx 25 MT of Scrap.

- Due date for submission of tender: On or before 18 May’15 at 15.00 hrs
- Date for opening of technical bids: on 19 May’15 at 10.00 hrs
