India: SAIL issues Tender for 1,000 MT Stainless Steel Scrap Procurement

Salem Steel Plant (SSP), a unit of SAIL (Steel Authority of India Limited), has issued a tender for purchase of Stainless Steel Scrap.

SSP intends to purchase 1,000 MT Stainless Steel Scrap (SS Scrap). The tender is open for both type of suppliers such as domestic as well as overseas and the delivery should be done on FoR SSP and CFR Chennai Port basis respectively. The specified grade of the material should be of AISI 300 series considering 18% Chromium and 8% Nickel in the Scrap.

Indian Central PSU authorized trading companies from the overseas Scrap suppliers are eligible to participate. However, high-sea sales suppliers are not eligible to participate.

In case of overseas suppliers, price should be quoted in USD per MT on CFR basis, while, indigenous suppliers should quoted their prices in INR per MT on FoR (SSP Stores) basis for supply of SS Scrap in containers.

Note: The material should not contain any pressurized, closed or insufficiently open containers of any origin that could cause explosions in a metalwork furnace and it should be in the form of Shredded Scrap or bundled and the material shall be delivered in container loads only.

  • Total quantity: 1,000 MT
  • Delivery schedule: 3 months from the date of order
  • Packaging: Supplied in loose, end opening containers (20 Feet) each carrying 18-23 MT SS Scrap
  • Mode of dispatch: In case of import, dispatch is done through sea to Chennai Sea Port then by Road from Chennai to Salem Steel Plant. Domestic supplies will be dispatched by Road
