India: SAIL invites Tender to purchase 10,000 MT HMS-1 Scrap

SAIL, India’s largest steel producer, intends to procure 10,000 MT Heavy Melting Scrap (HMS-1) for its Salem plant through tender.

SAIL’s SSP unit has invited a global tender from Indian as well as overseas suppliers for supply of Heavy Melting Scrap (HMS-1) in Tamil Nadu (India).

Tender will be based on Reverse Auction (RA) process.

Bidders Criteria

  • Bidders should have past record of supplying 3,000 MT of HMS-1 Scarp in any one of last 5 preceding fiscal year i.e. FY09-FY13 or current year till June
  • Indian Central PSU trading house of overseas suppliers shall be eligible with authorized document; high-sea sales will not be considered
  • If Indian agent submits bid on behalf of foreign principle and the offer is directly submitted by the foreign principal against this tender, then foreign principle offer shall be considered
  • Tenderer should quote minimum 50% of required quantity
  • Indigenous suppliers should quote price FoR (SSP stores) basis

  • MS Scrap: HMS 1 ISRI 201
  • Non-alloy Melting Scrap HMS1
  • Pieces should not be over 36X18 inches

Country of Origin: US/UK/ /Australia/Japan/South Korea/India/Singapore/Taiwan/any European country

Quantity: 10,000 MT +/-5%

Delivery: The delivery period is for 3 months from the date of issue of purchase order.

Delivery Schedule: As per SSP schedule

  • Bid submission due date: 14.00 hrs IST on 26 Aug, 2014
  • Techno commercial bid opening date: 16.00 hrs IST on 26 Aug, 2014

Trades for HMS1&2 are heard to be in the range of USD 360-370/MT CFR Nhava Sheva and USD 385-390/MT for Shredded Scrap from Europe & US.

HMS-1 is heard to be offered in the range of USD 385/MT CFR Chennai from Germany, Shredded offers are at USD 395-400/MT, CFR Chennai and USD 385-390/MT, CFR Nava Sheva from Europe However, buying interest remains weak.[/su_box]
