India: SAIL Floats Tender for 27,000 MT Billet Export

Steel Authority of India – a government of India company has floated two export tenders for 13,500 MT billet each from Haldia and Vizag port.

The tender put up for Prime Mild Steel Non-Alloy Concast billets (125*125mm) has following specifications – C-0.27-0.32%, Mn-0.7-0.9%, S-0.05% max, P-0.05% max and Si – 0.15-0.35%. The length of the billets is 9-12 metres.

Rates are to be quoted on FoB Vizag and Haldia port basis. The material shipping is scheduled on 28 Feb’18.

Due date for bid submission is 16:00 hrs as per IST today (i.e 20 Dec’17).

“Billet in seaborne market continue to trade high on unavailability of spot cargoes. We will not be surprised if prices cross USD 515/MT FOB India levels.” said an exporter based in eastern region of India.

Trade Highlights

1. Vizag Steel’s billet tender received highest bid close to USD 500/MT FOB, however company was under negotiation and it is learned that buyer has revised bids to above USD 500/MT FOB levels.

2. Indian domestic induction grade billet prices reach INR 31,500-32,000/MT (USD 495-500/MT) on ex-mill basis located on western region of India.

3. Russian billet export offers assessed at close to USD 515-520/MT FOB Black Sea
