India: SAIL Floats Tender for 18,900 MT Billet Export

Steel Authority of India – a government of India company has floated two export tenders for 10,800 MT billet from its Durgapur Steel plant and 8,100 MT from its IISCO Steel plant. Both the cargoes will be shipped from Haldia port.

The tender put up for Prime Mild Steel Non-Alloy Concast billets (125*125mm) offered from Durgapur Steel plant has following specifications – C-0.27-0.32%, Mn-0.6-0.9%, S-0.05% max, P-0.05% max and Si – 0.15-0.35%. The length of the billets is 9-12 metres.

The tender put up for Prime Mild Steel Non-Alloy Concast billets (150*150mm) offered from IISCO Steel plant has following specifications – C-0.17-0.23%, Mn-0.5-0.9%, S-0.05% max, P-0.05% max and Si – 0.10-0.35%.

The material shipping is scheduled on 31 Mar’18.

Due date for bid submission is 16:00 hrs as per IST today (i.e 23 Jan’18).

Global Billet Market overview

Global billet market scentiments have softened following price drop in global scrap prices and limited trades. Billet export offers from CIS regions was around USD 505-510/MT, FoB Black Sea.

Iran’s Khouzestan Steel Company concluded 30,000 MT Billet export tender. As per market sources, the tender was concluded at around USD 510-515/MT, FoB Iran. The material delivery is scheduled in mid of March’18.

Domestic billet prices in Tangshan, China for 150*150 mm billet is around RMB 3,710/MT (inclusive of 17% VAT) down by RMB 30/MT D-o-D.

Domestic billet prices in India were yesterday assessed around INR 34,300-400/MT (ex-Mumbai).

India’s Vizag Steel has floated tender for 30,000 MT Billet Export. Due date for submitting the offer was 23 Jan’18 till 11:00 hrs.
