In a groundbreaking initiative, the Rail & Structural Mill of SAIL’s Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) has rolled out 125 square billets from 320x340mm blooms with an eye on enhancing rebar production from the plant’s merchant mill. Changes in roll pass design allowed rolling out of 125×125 billets at the mill. SAIL-BSP is aiming at increasing availability of billets to boost production of TMT bars to tap into current surge in domestic demand.
