SAIL’s Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) has initiated rebuilding of its coke oven battery no. 8, which is being carried out by MECON Ltd. The process involves replacing refractories along with equipping new set of mechanical and electrical automation facilities. Currently, the battery set is on temporary heating with oven temperature at around 200 degrees Celsius. BSL contains 8 set of coke oven batteries having an annual capacity of 3.3 mnt. Battery no. 6 is also shut down and is scheduled for rebuilding, but no party has been finalised yet.
