Amid rising demand for Russian coal in the Indian market, portside prices of 6500 kcal/kg NAR are assessed at INR 19,500/t at Paradip Port. Offers for Russian mid-high CV grade are at $160-180/t CIF India basis. Elevated prices of South African and Australian coal have compelled Indian steel and power units to use more Russian coal in blend. A total of 0.2 mnt of thermal coal from Russia is set to arrive at Indian ports till 17 July, CoalMint data showed.
