India: Rural road construction push to support cement demand growth in FY27

The govt has approved construction and upgradation of 26,474 km of rural roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY-IV), with an outlay of INR 18,907 crore. The FY27 target marks a 69%  y-o-y increase in rural road programme, reflecting a stronger focus on last-mile connectivity in rural, tribal and Left-Wing Extremism (LWE)-affected regions. Higher road construction activity is expected to support cement demand.
