- Bids in RINL auction surge 18% amid tighter supply
- NMDC’s prices remain steady in latest auction
RINL Vizag Steel auctioned 840 tonnes (t) of crude coal tar on 27 May 2026, where the complete quantity was sold at a weighted average price of INR 60,200/t. In comparison, during its previous auction held on 2 May 2026, the entire offered quantity of 840 t was sold at a weighted average price of INR 51,000/t.
The latest auction recorded an increase of INR 9,200/t, reflecting an approximate rise of 18% over the previous auction levels. Intense competition among buyers led to aggressive bidding activity, significantly supporting prices during the auction. Strong procurement interest and the need to secure material amid tightening availability encouraged participants to place higher bids.
Meanwhile, NMDC Nagarnar conducted a crude coal tar auction on 26 May for 1,500 t, where the complete offered quantity was sold out at a weighted average price of around INR 56,000-58,000/t. In its previous auction on 6 May, the entire 1,500-t quantity was sold at a weighted average price of INR 56,000/t, indicating largely stable pricing in the latest auction.
