Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), which has been undergoing a production recalibration due to some technical issues, is now seeing an improvement in the same and within a very short span of time, sources informed SteelMint.
A consultant has been engaged to resolve the technical issues, it was learnt. As a result, the production loss, which had been earlier pegged at around 7,000 tonnes per day, has reduced sharply to only around 3,000 tpd, showing a marked improvement.
Earlier, it may be recalled that SteelMint had reported RINL’s blast furnaces 3 (BF3) underwent a maintenance shutdown due to a technical issue which led to a slowdown in liquid and crude steel production. Sources also say that the BF in question is gradually working back to normalcy and RINL may soon start producing around 18,000 tpd of hot metal.
The technical glitch involved water seepage and chilling of the furnace, it was learnt, something that can happen at any mill’s BF in the course of its operation. In normal circumstances, this takes more than a month to get repaired. However, “early detection” and “experience” had helped RINL to combat the situation well, sources informed.
