India: Rebar supply in Gujarat likely to be affected as Mono Steel plans maintenance shutdown

Mono Steel – one of the major rebar manufacturers in Gujarat, has put its rebar mill under maintenance for a week, starting today, SteelMint learned from sources. This may limit the supply of rebar in the local markets for sometime. However, this is less likely to impact the prices as there isn’t sufficient demand for finished steel in the region due to rising COVID-19 cases. Also, traders are a bit cautious on prospects of lockdown. Mono Steel has a rolling capacity of about 0.22 mn t pa.
