Tight sponge iron deliveries have given producers the leeway to keep prices strong despite lower bids. As demand is mainly for prompt dispatch, suppliers are asking for a premium over regular deliveries.
SteelMint’s assessment for sponge P-DRI (FeM 80%) in Raipur was at INR 29,800/t on 3 Sept’21. A few deals were confirmed as against offers through the plants at around INR 30,000-30,200/t exw. Also, a few deals were reported by plants based outside the state capital at INR 29,800-29,900/t FOR Raipur for FeM 78-80% material.
