India: Railway mulls passenger trains cancellation to step-up coal movement

Indian Railways has planned to cancel several passenger trains to make way for coal wagons amid surged power demand. This will be carried out for at least one month, as the national transporter has set sights on augmenting coal transportation through its network. As per government data, the railways is loading 270-280 rakes/day in April 2022 for transporting coal from CIL owned mines.
