Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has hiked power tariff by INR 2/unit for peak hours i.e. 6.00-10.00 pm and revoked the INR 1.25/unit subsidy for night shift from 1 Jun’22. This is expected to increase the production cost of furnaces by over INR 1,000/t as is generally the case during the paddy cutting season, as per credible sources.
