India: Pressure on pig iron supplies as Kirloskar takes maintenance break

One of India’s leading foundry grade pig iron producers, Kirloskar Ferrous, has suspended operations temporarily at its mini blast furnace-II at Koppal in Karnataka. The 105 days of shutdown has been undertaken for upgrading the furnace, which has a capacity of 0.18 mn t per annum of hot metal production. India’s merchant foundry grade pig iron production stands at 1.15 mnt.
