One of the largest steel producers in central India – Prakash Industries Limited (PIL) has resumed operations, as per credible sources report to the SteelMint.
The company has melting capacities of about 1.176 MnT & rolling capacity of over 1 MnT per annum, as per reports.
The sources close to this matter reported that, initially the company has started trial production with about 40-50% capacity utilization, hence final output is expected to come out in a day or two.
Prior to this the company had notified via BSE filing that it is going to re-start its operations at Champa and Raipur plants in the state of Chhattisgarh with effect from 25 Apr’20.
The company largely sells wire rods & billet in the merchant market, while the remaining products are mostly used for captive consumption.
PIL is also into production of Power, Steel and PVC Pipe. The company’s plants are located in Champa, District Janjgir-Champa, and Raipur in Chhattisgarh.
Other major secondary mills in central India – Raipur have started producing finished steel with less than 50% capacity utilization. The mills which are involved in making prime grade rebars & other structural steel and directly supply in project works have resumed operations.
